Top: When download a virus infected file.

At this stage, download the file "eicar_com.zip" and "eicarcom2.zip". This 2 file are similar, the difference is that eicarcom2.zip have another extra folder inside it which is named "eicar_com".

This section show's me that the anti-virus never detect anything within the compressed file. The anti-virus appear, when i try to open up the file inside the zip. The anti-virus then automatically delete and clear the virus from my computer. Only some anti-virus software may detect intrusion located within the computer. Sometimes free anti-virus software may only protect the computer when its downloading the file through the Ethernet, thus it will not check throughout the computer system for virus. My previous statement is not entirely true, sometimes free software may provide it, but to be safe, purchasing a CD/DVD is a better choice.

Sometimes free downloads may contain malicious stuffs, attackers may put it unknown things in their anti-virus software and make you think it's safe to use it.
